The Historical Collection welcomed wunderwaffe, the miraculous weapon that was supposed to turn the tide of war. The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the first jet-powered fighter plane used in combat! Manufactured by Germany, it entered service in 1944 as an interceptor fighter. Bomber and reconnaissance versions were also developed. It was nicknamed Sturmvogel by German pilots, and was known as the Turbo among the Allies. The late introduction of the aircraft into service meant that it did not play a significant role during the war. The Messerschmitts Me 262 scored 900 kills with a loss of 100 aircraft. This aircraft is inspired by a model that is in the Deutsches Museum in Munich. It was piloted by Hans Guido Mutke, who flew it in the last days of the war to Switzerland, where it was interned. Years later, the machine returned to Germany as a wonderful museum exhibit.
With 390 COBI building bricks you will build an excellent replica of the legendary German jet from the Second World War! This beautiful historical plane was designed with attention to detail. The bricks have been covered with high-quality prints which do not wear off even during intensive use. The painting of the plane refers to a machine with a very rich past, which is currently in the Munich museum. Behind the controls of this unusual machine we can sit a figurine, which is inspired by the figure of pilot Hans Guido Mutke. According to unconfirmed reports, this pilot could cross the sound barrier for the first time! The whole set is completed with a brick base and a plaque with the name of the model.
